About the artist
Ines Benabida, a French-Moroccan artist, has dedicated the majority of her adult life to her career as an industrial pharmacist and innovation strategist, a field she pursues to satisfy her intellectual aspirations and passion for sciences.
"Yet, I always wanted to study art. When I was five or six years old, I began drawing and became really excited about it".
After four years of living in the United States, Ines eventually took the leap in 2020 when she created her Instagram page to showcase her improvement in drawing. "I took that as a sign that it was time to follow my childhood dream," she recalls of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Her work during the epidemic has addressed themes like uncertainty and solitude. "An emotion is usually the starting point. I draw what most appeals to me or how I'm feeling at the time," the artist claims.

Influence and inspirations
Japanese horror manga writers like Junji Ito, whose works on Uzumaki and Junji to Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre anime anthology series are among the influences.
Her favorite animes from childhood, such as Nana and the notorial BLAME!, also serve as inspiration for the artist, along bigger animation works like Miyasaki and the studio Ghibli.
She uses her daily playground, East Boston, as a supportive background to her sketches and drawings.
